Gather Some Photos to Edit
For this quest we will combine 2 (or more) photos. One of these photos must be a picture of you. Mr. Willis will have a camera set up in the back of the room where you can take your picture. The other picture must be downloaded from Google. You have 2 options for this photo
Option 1 tends to be the easier task to complete. However if you are brave enough to try Option 2 you have the potential to earn more points!
- Download a picture of a location, real or make believe. You will combine this with your picture to make it look like you are visiting that location. Depending on which picture you choose as your background when you take the picture of yourself you may want to be smiling, scared or even look like you are flying!
- Download a picture of a character you would like to become. This could be someone from a book, TV show or movie (make sure it is school appropriate). You will then use Photoshop to replace this character's face with your face. Make sure you take a picture with the right expression!
Option 1 tends to be the easier task to complete. However if you are brave enough to try Option 2 you have the potential to earn more points!
Open the Photos in Photoshop
Open Adobe Photoshop Elements. Then open each of the pictures you plan to use by going to File->Open in the top menu. Make sure that the layers in your photos are unlocked so that you can edit them. |
Combine the Photos
Make sure all your photos are moved into the same file. See the video on the right for directions.
Erase What You Don't Need
Become an Artist!
In this video you will see Mr. Willis tinker with a few different tools in Photoshop to make his face match up with Thor's. You will need to use all the tools at your disposal to match up your two pictures as best you can. Don't be afraid to try out something new, and find the strategy that works best for your creation!
Show it Off!
When you are finished you will need to print your new picture and save a digital copy for possible posting on the GCMS website. See Mr. Willis for help with this step.
